Chippa United registered back-to-back wins for the first time in the Absa Premiership this season after thrashing Black Leopards 3-0 on Wednesday evening.
The Chilli Boys made only change from their first win of the season against AmaZulu before the FIFA break, with Tercious Malepe returning from the U23 national team to boost the side, with Mzikayise Mashaba making way.
Meanwhile, Leopards boss Luc Eymael made four changes from their win over Cape Town City, as Edwin Gyimah, Thobani Mncwango and Thivhavhudzi Ndou accompanied Lesedi Kapinga in the line-up.
The Chilli Boys had a great start after Thabo Rakhale opened the scoring in just the fifth minute of the match.
Norman Mapeza’s charges were on the roll as they found the second goal on the half-hour mark thanks to goal by Nigerian forward Chidi Kwem.
Chippa then managed to keep Lidoda Duvha at bay in the latter phase of the first stanza and headed to the break with a two-goal cushion.
Mapeza introduced Meshack Maphangule with 20 minutes remaining in place of Boikanyo Komane to freshen up the side.
After a quiet spell in the half, Chippa got the third goal six minutes before full-time thanks to William Twala, who killed off the match to round off an impressive win of the hosts.
Chippa moved within two points of safety with their second win a row, although they still sit bottom while Leopards dropped down slightly to 13th with 12 points.
The Chilli Boys will be aiming to get out of the drop zone in their upcoming clash at home against Baroka FC this Sunday afternoon while Lidoda Duvha will be hoping to bounce back against Golden Arrows on Saturday.
