HE WANTED tik but he didn’t have the money to buy his fix.
Mkhululi khaki (24) decided the only way to get cash was to strip his gogo’s shack , but residents were not going to allow him to leave her homeless.
Residents of Blakkiesdrop, kariega, cornered the 24-year-old, gave him a few lashes and made him put the zinc he had stolen back. By the time the DKTeam arrived on the scene on 24 November, he had already nailed all the zinc sheets back.Mkhululi said he was sorry but his craving possessed him.
“I only saw my gogo’s shack as a quick way to raise money to buy drugs,” He said
Mkhululi didn’t open a case against the residents who moered him and his gogo didn’t open a case against him. He admitted he was wrong and deserved to be punished with a sjambok. His gogo NoAmen (85) said Mkhululi was taken to a rehabilitation centre in 2021 but recently relapsed.
“He was okay after coming home and vowed not to do drugs again but now I see he’s started again,” she said. The gogo blamed the company her grandson kept.
“We have warned him on several occasions to choose his friends more wisely but he keeps going for bad guys. I’m just asking for prayers for my grandson to recover.”
The gogo said stripping her shack was very extreme and she was scared for what he would do next.
She said he had been living with her ever since his mum died many years ago.
