Gqeberha police are investigating a case of murder after a man was shot in North End on Tuesday afternoon.

Shaheen Nash, 32, was driving an Opel panel van to pick up car parts when the shooting occurred in Robinson Street at about 1.30pm.

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said Nash was with his wife and two other passengers, believed to be hitchhikers, at the time of the incident.

“As they approached their destination, an unknown man armed with a firearm confronted the driver.”

Janse van Rensburg said Nash managed to drive off but the suspect fired two shots at Nash.

“[Nash] was shot in the right hand and a second shot went through his right arm into his upper body.

“His wife drove him to Livingstone Hospital where he passed away.

“The motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.”
