Police in Kariega have opened an inquest after three family members died in a shack fire early this morning, August 6, in Rosedale, Kamesh.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at about 00:15, a resident in another shack on the same property in Shrew Street noticed the shack on fire.

She said that he alerted other people, however, the flames were too high to save anyone.

Craig Isaacs (45), his wife, Antoinette Samuels (44) and their son, Tyrese Samuels (7) died in the blaze.

“At this stage it is not known how the fire started,” said Naidu.

“No foul play is suspected, and police have opened an inquest for further investigation.”
