The highly-anticipated final lived up to its billing, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but ultimately failing to find the back of the net, resulting in a goalless stalemate.
However, Chiefs held their nerve in the penalty shootout, converting all five of their spot kicks to edge out Sundowns 5-4.
The Amakhosi’s path to the final was paved with a convincing 2-0 semifinal victory over Golden Arrows earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, Sundowns booked their spot in the final with a nail-biting 4-3 penalty shootout win over hosts Chippa United, following a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
Chiefs’ triumph marked a memorable conclusion to the inaugural Home of Legends Cup, and the team will undoubtedly savor their status as the competition’s first-ever champions.
