SPAZA SHOP OWNERS PUT ON NOTICE!

A crucial meeting was held at the Babs Madlakane Community Hall today,in KwaNobuhle near Kariega.

Where spaza shop owners were educated on the compliance requirements they must meet as business operators. The meeting was hosted by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality COO’s Office, led by Nompumelelo Mrubata, along with representatives from various departments.

Shop owners were informed about the necessary certificates they need to obtain to operate legally. Residents renting out their homes to spaza shop operators were also warned about the potential consequences they may face if compliance is not upheld.¹

The meeting emphasized the importance of registration and compliance with the Municipality’s requirements. Shop owners were instructed to visit their nearest police station to obtain the necessary forms for registration.

Failure to comply may result in serious consequences, including fines and even closure of the business. The Municipality is urging all spaza shop owners to take immediate action to ensure they meet the required standards.
