Bridging KwaNobuhle: Community’s Dream Takes Shape

After months of delays and legal complications, the local bridge project is finally moving forward. On May 6, municipal officials met with community representatives to announce the appointment of two contractors, Power Construction and Empire Constructors, to work on the Matanzima and Nomakwizana bridges.

The project faced setbacks due to legal disputes over the initial contractor appointments. However, after provincial and national oversight, the municipality has resolved these issues and appointed new contractors.

Stakeholder groups, including the taxi industry and SANCO, actively participated in the process, expressing concerns over road damage and economic losses. The community praised the steering committee’s efforts, citing regular updates and inclusivity.

The appointed contractors, Power Construction and Empire Constructors, will commence work on site by May 12. Upcoming meetings will focus on SME involvement and stakeholder updates.

KwaNobuhle resident Zoliswa Magagula told Daily Kasi News ” Unity in Diversity: “I know there is strength in the differences between us. I know there is comfort, where we overlap. We are extremely excited about this developments ” said Zoliswa
