Murder of missing girl (7) shakes abahlali

A GIRL (7) from Addo who went missing on Tuesday evening, 22 July, has been found dead.

The child was reported missing after she vanish while playing outside her home in Addo settlements. Where her family and neighbours couldn’t find her, they went to the local police station to open a missin persons case.Their worst fears were confirmed early on Wednesday morning, 23 July, when residents walking to work discovered the girl’s body dumped on a pile of rubbish in Nambuzane Street.

A resident who spoke to Daily Kasi News claimed the girl appeared to have been murdered somewhere and dumped with household rubbish.

“It looked like the person who dumped the girl used a wheeled bin full of rubbish,” claimed the resident.Family makes shocking discovery on Facebook

News of the discovery was quickly shared on a local WhatsApp group and when the family arrived at the scene, they identified the young victim.Residents claimed the body had visible head injuries.

Soon after, angry residents confronted a woman in the area whom they suspected of being involved.The woman allegedly said:

“It’s not my first time to be accused of killing someone, but I know nothing about the girl’s death.Addo Community Police Forum (CPF) deputy chairman Bonga Zamisa said the killing has left the community in shock.

“As Addo CPF, we are saddened by the brutal killing of a minor. At this point we are unclear on motives behind the gruesome murder.

“We condemn these kinds of killings, and we call upon the community to help police with information that will lead to the arrest of perpetrators,” said Zamisa.

Eastern Cape police spokesman Sergeant Twigg confirmed that a murder case has be opened.”ADDO police registered a murder case for investigation after the body of a seven-year-old girl was discovered on Wednesday morning, 23

“The victim sustained injuries to her head and was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. According to reports, the child was reported missing last night. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made,” said Twigg.
