The recoding deadline, set by Eskom, is fast approaching, and worried residents fear that failure to comply will result in a complete power cut-off and hefty fines.

Nombulelo Mafilika (56) told Daily Kasi News “I’m worried and panicking I don’t want to see myself sitting in the dark,”

“I don’t know what I’ll do if my power is cut off. I have a family to feed and bills to pay.”said Mafilika

Another resident, Thembelani Ngwendu (27) told DK News team “ I’m frustrated with this process. “The recoding process is complicated and time-consuming. I’ve tried to recode my meter, but the system is not working. I’m not sure what to do.” Said Ngwendu

Eskom officials have warned that residents who fail to recode their meters by the deadline will face the consequences.

“We urge all prepaid electricity users to recode their meters as soon as possible to avoid any disruptions to their electricity supply,” said Eskom spokesperson, Sipho Ngwema.

With time running out, KwaNobuhle residents are advised to act quickly to avoid being left in the dark.

THEIR PUNANIS BUY THEM BOOZE!

By Phumlani Saul

IT’S A travelling roadshow for punani lovers.

Viewing is allowed and so is touching.

AND WHOEVER SHOWS THE SWEETEST PUNANI GETS THE MOST BEER.

These are women who don’t let their unemployment get in the way of having fun – and drinking all the booze they can handle.

They travel around the kasi and arrive wearing miniskirts, short dresses and bum shorts, with sexy make-up and trendy hairstyles.

Last Saturday the girls arrived at Tsananag Tavern in , KwaLanga, near Kariega where a stokvel was being hosted.

Newcomers are often shocked by what they see but the regulars never miss an opportunity to appreciate the show.

“We dance to entertain,” said one of the girls.

“And we don’t have a problem with dancing naked.”

It’s like a contest. They show their stuff to make it easy for the customers.

Soon the beer starts flowing fast and the one with the best bum gets the most beer.

One of the girls said: “They buy booze for us, and yes, sometimes we end up in a bed we’ve never seen before.”

One of the women said they don’t take any notice if there are jealous women in the tavern.

“Men appreciate us and if we like them we don’t mind being touched. If they buy the booze, we provide the entertainment,” she said.

A woman who said her name was Brenda said they don’t appreciate other women taking to the dance floor.

“We get jealous when women we do not know dance. We don’t want them stealing our men. Without our partners these places would be no fun,” she said.

“We don’t mind people talking badly about us, because we are starring here. We are the main attractions and it feels good.

“Sometimes men fight over us and then we get to choose the one who buys the beers and the ciders.”

Abel Sizani said his friends visit him constantly these days because they all attend the gatherings.

“They like what they see. What can I say? But we all enjoy the show. It’s unusual and it’s free,” he said.

Car owners wake up shocked in the morning to find their cars on bricks.

It happened to one car owner on Thursday, 14 November, in Khayamnandi Dispatch

At about 5am, he was preparing to leave for work when, to his shock and horror, found his new car sitting on bricks.

The mag wheels and rims were gone.

“I’m shocked because this is not what I expected. I was going to work in the morning, and finding my car without wheels broke me,” he said.

He said he’s yet to open a case.

However, he was not the only victim.

A community leader said since the beginning of this week, they’ve received complaints from eight car owners whose tyres have been stolen.

On Thursday, a group of residents went around ekasi searching for the thieves.

According to the community leader, four suspects were found and assaulted.

The tsotsis were released on a warning.

“One of them was unlucky and was captured on camera from one of the houses he stole tyres from. We’re tired of these criminals. We work hard, but they just come and take. Police arrest them, and tomorrow they’re back in the streets. We prefer to whip them up before taking them to the police,” said the community leader.

Captain Nelda Oliphant advised victims to open cases for investigations to get underway.

The highly-anticipated final lived up to its billing, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but ultimately failing to find the back of the net, resulting in a goalless stalemate.

However, Chiefs held their nerve in the penalty shootout, converting all five of their spot kicks to edge out Sundowns 5-4.

The Amakhosi’s path to the final was paved with a convincing 2-0 semifinal victory over Golden Arrows earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, Sundowns booked their spot in the final with a nail-biting 4-3 penalty shootout win over hosts Chippa United, following a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

Chiefs’ triumph marked a memorable conclusion to the inaugural Home of Legends Cup, and the team will undoubtedly savor their status as the competition’s first-ever champions.

Killer’ reports own crime!

By Tembile Sgqolana

A FAMILY is struggling with the tragic loss of their loved one.

This follows the brutal murder of Sisanda Booi (36) from Cwengcwe Ville in the Eastern Cape.

Sisanda went missing on 25 October 2024 and was found on 31 October.

According to Sisanda’s brother, Inganathi Booi, Sisanda left home for work on 25 October, leaving behind her gogo, whom she was looking after.

“On her way from work, she walks on a long gravel road that passes through the forest before she reaches a place where she can catch a hike,” Inganathi said.

He said the family became worried when Sisanda didn’t return from work and started asking around.

“This was unlike her. I then posted on social media and asked her friends, including her boyfriend, if they had seen her. No one had seen her. She was last seen going to work.”

Sisanda went missing on 25 October, only found on 31 October.

Inganathi said they only heard on 31 October that someone had gone to the police to report that a body was found in the forest.

“The person pointed out the plastics that had covered her body after doing all he wanted to do with her. He then stabbed her two deep wounds which killed her. When her body was found it was already decomposing.”

He said all they want to know is why did the perpetrator kill her.

“The family depended on her to take care of our gogo and she was a breadwinner. Why kill her? We have hope in the criminal justice system that the suspect will rot in jail.”

Police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa said police can confirm that a murder case is under investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body at Cwengcwe forest on 31 October 2024 after she had gone missing.

Sisanda Booi whose body was found in the forest near Qonce in the Eastern Cape.

“This was after a 52-year-old man went to the police in Zele, outside Qonce, claiming he had stumbled upon a woman’s body in the forest. Police then went along with him to the scene, and on interrogating the 52-year-old man, it came out he was, in fact, the alleged killer,” she said.

Mawisa said the suspect was arrested and has since appeared in the Zwelitsha Magistrates Court on 4 November 2024, on a murder charge.

“The case has been postponed to 19 November for a bail hearing application. The deceased was found with stab wounds,” Mawisa said.

Yho!, what happened next

The smoke attracted the deputy principal, who told the three pupils to get out. They decided to run through the ceiling to the next class, where they jumped out of the holes in the ceiling.

These pupils were allegedly high. One jumped out of the window, thinking he would land on the balcony but fell hard and sustained serious head injuries.

Injured pupil taken to hospital

According to witnesses, the pupil jumped from the second floor.

“These pupils were high and were scared when they realised that they had been caught. This one pupil didn’t realise, because he was high, that he was jumping from the back side, not the side of the balcony,” said the witness.

The mum of the injured boy was called to the school but was too traumatised to speak.

Yongama Mtimka, spokesman for the Eastern Cape Department of Education, confirmed the incident.

He, however, said the grade 11 pupil was seen jumping from the second floor, not the third floor.

Mtimkasaid the department has launched an investigation, and the outcomes will determine the action to be taken.

“Consequently, the ambulance was called, and the parents of the pupil were informed accordingly. The pupil was taken to hospital where he is recovering,” said Mtimka
