EVIL SMILEY AND THE CROSS IN OUR GATE!

By Mzwandile Bhefile

IT WAS just a normal, cold night and the Gcobo family slept peacefully in their beds. But during the dark night evil people prowled around their house. AND WHEN THE GCOBOS WENT OUTSIDE THEY FOUND A GRINNING SMILEYHANGINGFROMTHEIR FRONT GATE!

“I will never eat a smiley again in my life!” said Nothembalethu Gcobo (42), from Holomisa in Khayelitsha, Uitenhage. “When I see smileys now

they will always remind me of this.” She said they have been terrified since they went outside on Wednesday morning and found the sheep’s head with a cotton rope threaded through its ears and secured with what looked like a red Christmas cracker. A passing neighbour on his way to work alerted Nothembalethu about the horrible sight outside her house. When Daily kasi Team arrived, curious onlookers were gathered around, watching proceedings from a safe distance.

“We were terrified when we found this thing,” said Nothembalethu.

“I’ve only ever seen anything like this in the movies, not at my own house. We can’t even open our own gate because of it!”

She said the head is a threat to them.

“We run a successful business selling airtime, cold drinks and amagwinya and people are jealous of us.”

Lawrence Gcobo (58), Nothembalethu’s husband, said: “This incident will not affect me or my business.”

But he believes the head has something to do with his sore feet.

“I believe this is the reason I struggle to walk sometimes,” he said.

“But it won’t stop me from living my life. Only God can decide what is going to happen to me.”

A neighbour, Giza Hobongwana (56), said he had last seen something like this when he was a young boy at school. “We found sheep intestines at the school,” he said.

“I want to go to a sangoma and find out who did this.”

Traditional healer Madoda Mtyaphi told Daily kasi news the sheep’s head is pure evil.

“This is not a message from the ancestors. This is the actions of evil people with their evil ways. This is nothing but Satanism,” said Mtyaphi.

“I advise the family to do what they believe in. They must consult a sangoma or go to church, but they must do it soon!”

MYSTERY OF THE BURNING GRAVES

By Nomathamsanqa Magwa

THE people of Summerville in the Eastern Cape are worried that their ancestors are being disrespected.

That’s because piles of rubbish and empty booze bottles are being dumped at the local cemetery.

Residents said they have complained many times without getting any help.

Things got worse on Thursday when they found that some of the graves at Give-Knock Cemetery had been burnt.

Resident Makhi Mboniswa (42) told Daily kasi news: “I got the shock of my life when I visited my parent’s gravesite.

“It was burnt and empty liquor bottles were all over the place.”

Community leader Eric Nogampula said he was shocked to find the tombstones of his siblings had been burnt.

“There was also rubbish on top of some of the graves,” said Eric.

“We reported this situation to the municipality last year. We were promised that cleaners would be sent in the first week of August. But it never happened.

“Instead our graves were burnt down this year.”

Eric said he went to the Addo Police Station to report the matter.

However, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Klaas said they were not aware of the matter.

“We are going to send a team to find out what has been happening to the graves,” said Klaas.

Mayor Zolile Lose said: “Farmers around Summerville dump rubbish wherever they feel like.

“Our plan is to monitor the dumping site and cemetery.”

STOLEN MEAT SHOCK!

By Phumlani Saul

FOR months cops had been struggling to work out who was stealing cattle in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage.

Not once did it cross their minds that the cheap meat sold at the popular Posh’s Place could be stolen.

After all, the shisa nyama was a stone’s throw away from the police station and some of the cops were allegedly regulars there.

Police spokeswoman Captain Gerda Swart said an increase in complaints of stock theft led to a door-to-door raid of shisa nyamas in the area.

“We had several stock theft complaints in the Rocklands area. Three weeks ago we received another about seven stolen cows,” she said.

On Tuesday their investigations led to Posh’s Place in KwaNobuhle.

Upon searching the place, they recovered raw meat from four of the seven stolen cows.

It was being stored under a bed.

Additional information led police to the crossroads behind the multi-purpose sports ground and Qukushe bush.

“This is where the cows were being slaughtered.

“We found the other three alive. Two farmers identified their cows.”

A patron told the People’s Paper that they no longer buy meat at a butchery.

The stolen meat was being sold as delicious umxhaxho and qadidi at R20 a plate.

“The meat here is fresher, cheaper and more delicious. Everyone ekasi was crazy about it. Even cops in uniform came here for a delicious plate of meat.

“I never thought it was stolen because the shisa nyama is close to the cop shop.”

Farmer Zongezile “Mvala” Stokwe was reduced to tears when he saw his cows.

“I lost two pregnant cows. But I thank God the police managed to recover another three of them. These are ruthless thieves.

“They killed my pregnant cows with pangas. The unborn calves were everywhere,” he said.

Police have arrested a co-owner of the tavern and four other men.

They will appear in court on Friday for stock theft.

Swart said: “I cannot deny or confirm that cops were buying meat there.”

NO MEAT FOR MAHALA!

By Nomathamsanqa Magwa

THE cow drew its last breath at the open field next to the busy road after being hit by a speeding car.

Residents sprang into action and rushed to the scene – but they were not there to help the wounded animal.

Armed with okapies, axes and sticks, they surrounded the animal and tried to cut off a few pieces of meat!

But among the people who gathered around the dead animal on Friday morning were a few cattle farmers who denied the residents a free meal!

The farmers and residents fought for the dead cow in Gunguluza in Kwanobuhle, Uitenhage.

“We can’t kill each other for a dead cow!” shouted one of the farmers.

“The best thing to do is wait for the owner!” he added as residents called him crazy.

Meanwhile, two madalas were even prepared to moer each other for a chance to slice a chunk of meat from the cow. One of them said to the other: “Voetsek kwedini!”

“Move back!” shouted another farmer as residents pushed and shoved, trying to kneel down and chop out juicy pieces for themselves.

One resident shouted: “Time is not on our side – the owner might come!”

When the owner of the cow finally arrived, he was armed with a stick and a knife.

He was accompanied by a large group of men who were armed with knives and sticks.

Madala Yalekile, the owner of the cow, said: “I was with my neighbour when I heard my cow had been hit by a car.

“I immediately sped off with my team. Luckily, only the cow’s liver was missing when I got there.”

Police spokeswoman Lieutenant Gerda Swart said: “The driver of a silver VW Polo allegedly lost control of his vehicle and knocked down a cow and two children on the side of the road.

“The children were taken to hospital and we are investigating a case reckless and negligent driving.”

Cattle owners in the area are urged to keep their cattle in enclosures such as grazing compounds and as far away from residential areas as possible.

Chippa clinch back-to-back wins

By Dk Sport

Chippa United registered back-to-back wins for the first time in the Absa Premiership this season after thrashing Black Leopards 3-0 on Wednesday evening.

The Chilli Boys made only change from their first win of the season against AmaZulu before the FIFA break, with Tercious Malepe returning from the U23 national team to boost the side, with Mzikayise Mashaba making way.

Meanwhile, Leopards boss Luc Eymael made four changes from their win over Cape Town City, as Edwin Gyimah, Thobani Mncwango and Thivhavhudzi Ndou accompanied Lesedi Kapinga in the line-up.

The Chilli Boys had a great start after Thabo Rakhale opened the scoring in just the fifth minute of the match.

Norman Mapeza’s charges were on the roll as they found the second goal on the half-hour mark thanks to goal by Nigerian forward Chidi Kwem.

Chippa then managed to keep Lidoda Duvha at bay in the latter phase of the first stanza and headed to the break with a two-goal cushion.

Mapeza introduced Meshack Maphangule with 20 minutes remaining in place of Boikanyo Komane to freshen up the side.

After a quiet spell in the half, Chippa got the third goal six minutes before full-time thanks to William Twala, who killed off the match to round off an impressive win of the hosts.

Chippa moved within two points of safety with their second win a row, although they still sit bottom while Leopards dropped down slightly to 13th with 12 points.

The Chilli Boys will be aiming to get out of the drop zone in their upcoming clash at home against Baroka FC this Sunday afternoon while Lidoda Duvha will be hoping to bounce back against Golden Arrows on Saturday.
